We hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy during these trying times. Since we are all staying inside our homes as much as possible, we wanted to share a little spring beauty with you. We hope you'll take a moment to enjoy these images of the gardens at Shakespeare's Head and the Old Brick School House (21 and 24 Meeting Street) in full spring bloom, and that they lift your spirits as much as they have ours.

The Shakespeare's Head garden was redesigned by landscape architect James Graham in the Colonial Revival style following the 1938 hurricane that devastated much of Providence. For many years, landscape design and care was provided by Shakespeare's Head Association board member Llerena "Lalla" Searle. The Barbara S. Gwynne Fund, established in 1995 at the Rhode Island Foundation, contributes to the ongoing care of the garden. You can learn more on our website

Sole ownership of Shakespeare's Head and its garden was transferred to PPS in 2016, and we assumed responsibility for the stewardship of this important piece of Providence's historic landscape. We would like to give a big shout out and thank you to those who keep the garden looking its best: TF Morra Tree Care, Inc., City & Estate Gardener, and our volunteers Ellen Bruzelius, Marlene Yang, and Karen L. Jessup. The garden would not shine like it does without their time, dedication, and care.

Once it is safe to venture out again, we hope you will stop by for a visit!
